About Kathleen

Kathleen DuVal is a Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she specializes in early American and Native American history.

DuVal is a Pulitzer Prize winner and a Guggenheim Fellow. Her other awards include National Humanities Center Fellowships, a postdoctoral fellowship from the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship, the 2008 best article in the William and Mary Quarterly, and the best article in southern women’s history from the Southern Association for Women Historians. She is an Elected Fellow of the American Antiquarian Society and the Society of American Historians.

Kathleen DuVal grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and now lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her family.
